Student Food Policy Council
Founded at Carnegie Mellon University in 2015, the Student Food Policy Council (SFPC) provides a platform for Pittsburgh’s diverse student population to connect and collaborate on food policy issues. Any Pittsburgh-based student is invited to join the SFPC, and by doing so gains access to not only a vast networking framework of like minded food policy players, but also a variety of SFPC sponsored activities. Previously, Council activities ranged from general meetings to sponsored talks to professional networking opportunities.
To broaden the SFPC’s ability to provide a dynamic learning experiences for its members, the SFPC became an affiliate of the Pittsburgh Food Policy Council in 2016. This affiliation allows students to connect with a vast network of food policy professionals. As a result, students have been able to gain real world policy experience through both internships and professional opportunities. If you are a student interested in joining the council, or a policy professional interested in extending an internship/employment opportunity to the SFPC members, please contact our Outreach Director Nicole R.
