Know Your GMOs - Celebrate Non-GMO Month this Sunday, October 13!
The East End Food Co-op is excited to present a community forum during Non-GMO Month this October to raise awareness of the issues associated with genetic engineering. You’re all invited to join us in hearing presentations on a number of topics like potential health consequences, the impact on agriculture and biodiversity, the connection GMOs have to the declining honeybee population, and more!
We are pleased to welcome our keynote speaker, Jeffrey Smith, to Pittsburgh for this Non-GMO Month event. Jeffrey Smith is the founding executive director of The Institute for Responsible Technology (IRT), which is a leading source of GMO health risk information for consumers, policy makers, and healthcare professionals. He is also an international best-selling filmmaker (Genetic Roulette, The Gamble of our Lives) and author (Seeds of Deception: Exposing Industry and Government Lies about the Safety of Genetically Engineered Foods You’re Eating andGenetic Roulette: The Documented Health Risks of Genetically Engineered Foods). As the leading consumer advocate promoting healthier non-GMO choices, Jeffrey Smith (along with IRT) is driving the tipping point of consumer rejection against GMOs.
